This can jump-start your innovation by prototyping all your ideas.

Shortcuts

You can now add a button to the player controls and assign an action to it. You can bring up the player controls anywhere you want by pressing either the shortcut button in the inline player, or A on your left controller. Need quick teleportation to a certain waypoint? Shortcuts are the way to go.

Anchors

You can grab objects and snap them to an anchor point. In the editor you can define anchor points to which you snap objects. This helps users to place objects aligned with the anchor.

Non-immersive mode improvements

The inline player for websites has extra camera-options. The first person camera can move around, ground-fixed, through teleportable zones. And a satellite camera pans around the middle of the scene.

Auto teleporting in non-immersive mode can be smooth now. Just add a duration to a teleport.

Better phone and tablet support

We added onscreen controls for phones and tablets, so you can run your experiences Web-Based, in the browser, on your mobile hardware.

Hand tracking

Controllers are great, but hand tracking is way more intuitive for new-time VR users. That is why we added support for hand tracking. Initial gestures are pinch to click and grab objects by making a fist. We'll add gestures in future releases.

Upgraded reality rendering (PBR)

We upgraded our rendering engine to support the Physical Based Rendering technique. With this update, users can now take advantage of physics support, a complete overhaul of the Scenebrook editor with live preview, advanced teleport options in zones and to waypoints, and improved performance and stability.

One of the most exciting additions to Scenebrook is the physics support, which allows users to create more realistic and immersive VR experiences. This means that objects can now have mass and can interact with the environment and other objects. In addition, objects can be interactive for the user, meaning you can pick up, throw and place objects. With physics support, users can create simulations and training scenarios that require a high level of realism and interactivity. The action system recieves the collisions as events, making it possible to add interactivity to physics events.

Another major improvement is the complete overhaul of the Scenebrook editor with live preview, which provides a more intuitive and streamlined workflow for creating and editing VR scenes. Live preview allows users to see their changes in real time as they make them, greatly reducing the time and effort required to create VR content. The new editor also includes a range of new features and tools, such as improved timeline support and advanced spatial audio management.

In addition to these improvements, we have also added advanced teleport options in zones and waypoints, allowing users to create more advanced navigation systems for their VR experiences. This feature allows users to define specific zones where teleportation is allowed or not allowed, and set waypoints that can be used to guide users through the scene. Zones can also be used to detect objects or the user entering a certain area.

Finally, we've significantly improved Scenebrook's performance and stability, meaning users can now create and run more complex and demanding VR experiences without worrying about crashes or slowdowns. These improvements include optimized rendering, improved asset management, and better memory management.

In summary, Scenebrook's latest update represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide a fast, cost-effective and easy-to-use platform for creating virtual reality experiences. With new physics support, a revamped editor, advanced teleport options, and improved performance and stability, users now have even more tools and capabilities to bring their VR visions to life.

Thanks for your continued support! That's why we're thrilled to announce that we've developed an addition to our platform that includes physics, adding a whole new level of interactivity and realism to our virtual reality experiences.

With this addition users can grab, place and even throw objects. By leveraging our interaction editor, this leads to new and exciting ways to interact with the scene. The addition of zone detection, makes it possible to lead the user to a specific place in the scene. Grabbing and releasing objects and entering and leaving zones are new entity events added to the interaction system

One example of how we're using the physics engine in a practical setting is the above Safety Training in VR demo. This demo puts the user in an industrial setting where they must operate a lift using a remote control. To ensure the user's safety, they must be far enough away from the lift before they can operate it. This creates a realistic and immersive experience that teaches users the importance of safety protocols in the workplace.

We're excited to roll out this addition to our platform in the near future, and we're currently testing it on our own systems to ensure a seamless experience for our users. With the addition of physics, we believe that Scenebrook will become an even more powerful tool for creating engaging and realistic virtual reality experiences.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing what you'll create with this new possibilities.

Take care,

Dennie from Tellick

Scenebrook Unveils New Logo

Hi all,

At Tellick, we're always looking for ways to improve our platforms and make it more accessible and user-friendly for everyone. Today, we're excited to announce the launch of the brand new logo for Scenebrook, which represents the next step in the product's evolution.

The new logo is a sleek and modern design that incorporates elements of our original logo while giving it a fresh and updated look. We've also chosen a new color theme that is vibrant and eye-catching, with shades of blue that reflect the immersive nature of our virtual reality experiences.

In addition to our new logo and color theme, we also chose to incorporate the hexagon shape into our branding. It's the simpelest form of a VR experience, which can be achieved with just a few clicks.

For our experience, we took two photos at the Dutch Innovation Factory. One at the entrance and one inside. The goal is to transition between the photos after a timer of 5 seconds.

We used an Insta360 EVO camera. While there are better VR camera's available, this one is a lot of value for money and fits the job perfectly. The camera features two 180 degrees lenses and two image sensors. The lenses are, not by change, as far away from each other as the human eyes are. This results in a stereoscopic image the resembles the scale that we're used to as humans.

An Insta360 EVO

The camera can take still images or video in as high as 5K resolution. You can transform the camera to a 360 degrees camera, although then you lose the steroscopic effect. Since that effect is not as important for large landscapes or sky photography, that mode is perfect for that.

So let's make our VR experience.

1. At Tellick Experience we create the tools which make telling stories in VR easy and accessible to anyone. So what is the main benefit of telling stories in VR? Immersion. Virtual reality allows you to create highly immersive experiences which make the viewer part of your story.

If there is one thing we've learned in the past months, it's that virtual reality is more than just a cool visual. We've discovered that the technology not only has the ability to entertain but it can also change the way we tell stories and communicate. VR adds an entire new layer to your stories by immersing your viewers in it. You can bring them to a certain place and give them a sense of scale. The narrative is conveyed much more powerful this way, leaving your viewers in awe. VR also adds the possibility of interactivity. Choosing a path, expanding worlds or picking up objects, increasing the elements of learning and realization.

<rect x="3" y="1" width="7" height="22" rx="1.5" ry="1.5"/><rect x="14" y="1" width="7" height="22" rx="1.5" ry="1.5"/>0:00
/
1×

Traditional media has long been a powerful way to bring stories to life. By creating a visual narrative of events, we can easily show empathy for a cause and transform audiences into action takers. You've seen this approach in documentaries, through the news and even in Hollywood films. Today, VR is rapidly being adopted by organizations such as the United Nations, ACLU and Amnesty International as a powerful tool, to bring people closer to real-life situations they're passionate about.

In the past few years, we have seen an increased interest and investment in the creation of interactive content by mainstream companies and entertainment giants. We are now seeing a greater push by organizations to create VR and 360° video content for events and projects. Tellick will help you to easily create a VR experience from your video, with full interactivity and 360° immersive capabilities. You don't have to be a developer or professional storytelling expert to create your own VR experience. Our clients have created everything from 360 videos to interactive experiences, all in one day with Tellick Experience. And sharing your VR story has never been easier. You can share your story through the web with anyone by just sharing a simple link with them.

The Tellick Experience editor allows you to create diverging paths in your story.

To get started today, simply go to https://experience.tellick.com and send us an email on previewprogram@tellick.com to get your preview account activated. When you double-click a Model Scene, a tab opens allowing you to edit an event timeline for that scene. Left clicking adds an event and right clicking that event removes it. Events can trigger an animation or play an audio file. This addition is the first one to make specific adjustments to a scene possible. You can expect further development of these scene editors in the future.

Migration of file storage to Tellick CDN. Up untill now all files were stored inside a file service of the Tellick Experience Cloud. In order to enable advanced file features such als image processing, video thumbnail generation and video transcoding all files and file access has been migrated to the Tellick CDN. You might notice an improved file performance and thanks to thumbnail generation, an improved editor performance.

New media browser. As an extension to using the Tellick CDN for files, we dramatically improved the media browser. You can find this new browser as the file picker inside the editor or if you browse to create -> my media. The new media browser includes folders, renaming files, moving files between folders, deleting unused files and different file list views. It should make managing your files a breeze. You don't need to worry that moving a file would impact your experiences. File references are based on a unique id, not the file location in your media browser.

Multilingual support for the editor. In addition to multilingual support for Tellick Experiences, we added support to the Experience Editor. This is small changes, but it marks the completion of multilingual support of all Tellick Experience services.

Ground work for font rendering. We added everything needed to render fonts and thus text inside the Tellick Experience Player. This important addition will enable future features such as multiple choice questions, text information panels and tooltips for buttons.

Ground work for journey recording. As part of our efforts to enable collaboration on the platform we added support to record the choices someone makes while playing an experience. The use case behind it is a student/tutor scenario, where a student plays an experience as part of a training program. Afterwards, the tutor can watch, analyse and discuss the choices made by the student.

If you have any questions, remarks or tips, please use the
share feedback
button on the bottom of the screen in Tellick Experience. This way you can get early access and try it out for yourself. All we ask in return is your valuable feedback, which is vital for continuous improvement of the platform. Opening up the preview program is the first step towards general availability of the platform. The transition from a closed private platform to a public preview is a big step for Tellick, but we are very excited to share the platform!

If you're already interested and you're time is limited? The TL;DR-route is to skip to "How to apply".

What is Tellick Experience?

Tellick Experience makes it easy to create, view and share virtual reality experiences, without every leaving the web, utilizing the full potential of modern web standards like WebXR. You might be familiar with a content management system for your website. Well, Tellick Experience is exactly that, but for virtual reality. This way, you can enable this next generation medium for your business without needing extensive technical knowledge and with significantly lower cost. Create a virtual showcase of your product. Give people a tour of your office, store or kitchen. Engage people by showing them the future of your city. Train people better with the immersive qualities of VR and stereoscopic video. The possibilities are close to endless.

The platform features an editor, in which you create the virtual experiences, and a player, in which you view those experiences. All you need is a WebXR-compliant Virtual Reality headset, like the Oculus Quest 2 or any PCVR-headset. Sharing those virtual experiences with others is as easy as sharing a YouTube video. You just share the link to the Experience and anyone can view the result.

First achievement

About a year and a half ago we started development, knowing fully well that to realize the complete vision, we needed way more time than that. Developing a completely new software product, while surfing the Gartner hype curve, is not an easy task. Especially for a small company like Tellick. That's why we set out goals to get to a minimum viable product before the end of 2021. This made us choose between features that really matter for now, versus features we'd like in the future, but are not fundamental enough that we couldn't live without them. That not to say those features won't arrive anytime soon. We are hard at work adding new capabilities every week. We have a small development cycle, meaning you can expect new features and improvements week by week. You'll be updated every month like we did with our latest development update, here on this blog.

How to apply

You can apply to the preview program by creating an account on https://experience.tellick.com and then send an email from the registered email address to previewprogram@tellick.com. Please include if you're a company or individual, what you'd like to do with Tellick Experience and what assistance you need to get going. Please note that for now the number of spots is limited. We'll evaluate how things are going on a daily basis and access is granted in the same order as we recieved the applications.

If you're not sure yet or you want to know more about Tellick Experience, send us an email. Ordinarily this update will be something we do every month. But if development is moving faster, we might update you more.

Changes

Multilingual support. Tellick Experience was build using English as the main language. With the addition of multilingual support, users can expect Tellick Experience in their own language. Non signed in users will fall back on the browsers configured navigator language, signed in users will see the language set in their Tellick Account profile.

Subscriptions. We set the ground work for paid subscriptions. Tellick Experience is currently in closed preview mode, meaning that everyone who gets access, has access to all features in full for this limited time. But starting Q2, we will start to enable new users to register and use Tellick Experience for free with limitations and fully via a subscription. Current users who are member of the preview program will remain free until at least 1st of July 2022 and will receive a limited time offer with reduced pricing after the preview program stops.

Preloading of journeys has moved from after clicking the play button, to loading the page itself. A loading indicator is added to signal activity and when loading is done, the play- and the immersive mode buttons become enabled. When you click play, the journey is started faster as everything is already available in memory. This change does not change the preload strategy. Users should still be aware that all assets are loaded at the same time, which means that big journeys require a larger loading time, especially on slower internet connections. A plan to optimize this is already underway and should be available Q3 this year.

We changed the way the client authenticates users. This loosens the connection with the Tellick Experience cloud, making the front-end a fully stand alone client of Tellick Account. There's a small impact for logged in users, as they are automatically logged out. The change improves the signed in experience dramatically, such as fewer log outs and it adds enablers for future features such as profile switching.

We added a back button to the 2D fall back mode of the Tellick Experience player, allowing viewers without a VR headset to move back to the previous scene, which is kind of nice.

Bug fixes

We fixed a bug where in a few specific scenarios users were unable to create a new journey.

The back button in immersive mode (for VR users) sometimes did not work correctly, moving the viewer back more than one scene. This has been fixed.

The stop button in immersive mode remained a stop button, even after stopping. This has been fixed. The stop button becomes a play button after clicking now.

Thanks for your increasing support. If you have any questions, remarks or tips, please use the
share feedback
button on the bottom of the screen in Tellick Experience. If you have an inquiry into our professional services or you're interested in getting access to the closed preview program, please send an email to info@tellick.com.

Let's start a blog

Tellick is growing. It's only just three years ago that Tellick was a one man show, but one with a bigger ambition. An ambition to build the technology platforms of the future. Now, three years later, a lot has happened and we hit an important development milestone. This means that Tellick Experience, our platform for easily creating, sharing and viewing Virtual Reality experiences, will have a public preview program very soon. Ultimately resulting in the platform becoming publicly available.

In the process we learned a lot, created spin off products and had some changes in our organization. And while this is great and all, we haven't been particularly great at communicating these stories, successes and updates with you. And we want to change that. This blog will keep those who are interested up to date. We will share company updates, product updates, guides and stories.

If you're interested, please come back here or subscribe to get a notification of updates on this blog.
